Our Native Nursery on the East Coast is more than a planting project—it's a movement to heal the land and empower our people.
With support from the Department of Conservation, we’ve launched a kaupapa-led initiative to grow up to 50,000 native plants annually, including species like pōhutukawa, kānuka, harakeke, and tī kōuka. These species help restore biodiversity, stabilise erosion-prone land, and revitalise mauri across our rohe.
Beyond environmental restoration, the nursery is creating hands-on learning and employment pathways. We're working with partners like EIT to deliver horticulture training and building opportunities for rangatahi and schools to get involved. It’s about connection—connecting people to land, to knowledge, and to a shared vision of regeneration.
Our Social Impact
Fresh Fish at Coast
Every week, our fish truck travels up and down the coast delivering fresh kaimoana at cost price to whānau. This project ensures healthy kai is accessible and affordable, especially for remote communities. It’s about food security, dignity, and making sure whānau don’t miss out on the moana’s bounty just because of where they live.
Supporting Local Enterprise - Hikurangi General Store
We recently backed a local business owner in purchasing and re-opening the Hikurangi General Store. More than just a retail space, this store is a vital hub for the community—providing groceries, employment, and a renewed sense of pride and mana motuhake in the heart of the valley.
Our support helps restore essential services and create pathways for sustainable local ownership.
