Nōnā Te Ao School Visit
We recently hosted students from Tolaga Bay Area School and Te Waha o Rerekohu Area School for a behind-the-scenes look at our farms, nursery, and Mānuka honey hives.
At Makarika Farm, Farm Manager Rore Aupouri showed how we care for animals in spring before students enjoyed kai grown right on the farm. At our Native Nursery, they learned how we grow and protect plants to restore the environment. The visit ended at the Mānuka hives, where Honey Ops Manager Blake shared the life of bees — and gave everyone a sweet taste straight from the hive!
A teacher summed it up perfectly: “Our students absolutely loved the Nāti Growth day… they had a fabulous time and would like to return!”
Big thanks to Jess and the Nōnā Te Ao Charitable Trust team for helping make it happen.

Best Seat in the House!
We were proud to sponsor the NPEC Men’s and Women’s Rugby teams this past weekend, joining the jersey presentations with our NGL board member Bailey Mackey and gifting the players Ngati Porou Honey and Te Ihi Wellness products. Then it was on to the games — a showcase of pride, passion and Nati spirit… on the field and from the saddles!
He wiwi, he nati!

What's Been Happening on our Farms
September is officially spring-time on Makarika Station and lambing is underway, while the Pakihiroa staff will start spreading their ewes for lambing in September and both farms will spend time managing their cattle mobs to ensure the ewes have plenty of grass (so they produce plenty of milk) for when they give birth and rear their lambs.
The farm crew have also been supporting our East Coast rangatahi in learning some new skills on farms, by hosting a school trip, and then getting off farm themselves with our East Coast whenua maori peers to share ideas and see what other top performing farms are doing to improve farm performance and manage erosion after the cyclones.
