Ngati Porou Mānuka Update

Apiary Update: The team wrapped up harvest at the end of February, with an expected 45T of honey! They’ve been working hard to move hives back to their winter homes, check on queen bees, and replace any that need it. Preparing hives now ensures healthy, strong bees heading into spring—this means a honey-packed summer!
The Porou Miere extraction is wrapping up at the end of the month, with a total throughput of around 90T for the season! The team has already extracted over 7,500 boxes of honey. And we're proud to say 10 local businesses now use Porou Miere to extract their own honey. It’s a true community effort!
Exciting News! We’re thrilled to be hosting Bushu Yohoen at Porou Miere in late March! They’ve been stocking our Ngāti Porou Manuka honey in their Tokyo-based stores for over 3 years, and this will be their first visit since the pandemic. We can’t wait to show them around!
Stay tuned for more updates as we keep buzzing along! 🐝
Captain Morgan's Renovation

Exciting Renovations Underway at Captain Morgans!
We’re thrilled to announce that our coffee corner is now complete, alongside a brand-new indoor seating area, upgraded restrooms, and fresh floors, cabinetry, windows, and doors. Our new space serves freshly roasted, locally sourced coffee beans directly to the footpath, giving you the perfect spot to grab a cup on the go!
Our renovated outdoor space is nearly finished and is already open to the public. It's a fantastic place to enjoy a delicious breakfast or burger while taking in the stunning beach views.
As we continue to update our space, we’ll be operating from a slightly reduced footprint for the next few weeks while renovations move to the main counter and retail area. This will include fresh new floors, cabinetry, ceiling, and lighting, plus an exciting new menu to look forward to!
Behind the scenes, our back-of-house operations will also be receiving some significant upgrades to improve our overall service.
Additionally, we’re excited to introduce a new information, retail, and tourism space. This will give local businesses the opportunity to showcase their products, alongside regional information for visitors to explore.
Stay tuned to our Facebook page for more updates and thank you for your continued support during this exciting transformation!
March Farm Updates

What's been happening on our Farms this March...
Ewes are living the dream out on the hills - eating, napping, and getting nice and chunky! Our sheep get all the meds and minerals they need to stay healthy and get ready for those randy Rams to join them in the paddock. Their wool? SOLD! It’s like the sheep’s version of a fashion line.
Meanwhile, we’re out here doing the business with our tractors, quads, and side-by-sides, making sure everything is serviced and safe for our crew.
We’re also sowing new crops into any bare paddocks keeping the weeds out and tidying up any scruffy grass so that everything is lush and green.
Autumn is beautiful on our farms! It's a great time for mustering - as the days are getting cooler, the mornings are dewy, and the afternoons are golden as the sun sets over Hikurangi in the land of Ngati Porou. 🌱
