While our New Year dawn tour was unfortunately impacted by weather, we’re already looking forward to more exciting opportunities to experience the beauty and history of this sacred mountain with you.
A huge thank you to our incredible team, Monty and Oriwa, whose passion, knowledge, and dedication make every tour unforgettable. Their hard work brings the rich history of Maunga Hikurangi to life for all our visitors—from our international manuhiri from France, India, Australia, and America, to whānau returning home.
Ngati Porou Mānuka Harvest Update
The honey harvest is in full swing, and we’re excited to share that our team has completed 40% of the harvest so far, with plans to finish by the end of January. Despite some wet weather, the warm spring and summer temperatures gave our bees ideal conditions to produce high-quality honey. We’re on track for an above-average season, expecting over 30 tons of honey! Extraction at Porou Miere began in December and lab analysis of the honey’s quality will start this week, with final UMF results coming after extraction wraps up in March.
